How difficult is it to change a fuel pump in a 2002 Chevy Cavalier? What is the easiest way?

The dealer wants to charge $850 which is outrageous when the part costs 300 bucks. I'm pretty sure there is no easy way to do this. But is there anything to keep in mind while doing it besides draining the gas tank. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. How difficult is it to change a fuel pump in a 2002 Chevy Cavalier? What is the easiest way?Why does it need a fuel pump? Is the vehicle not starting? Who diagnosed it was the pump in the first place? Regardless, if you have never done this before and you do not have the proper tools to drop the gas tank I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. If you do decide to give it a go, then have someone there who has a good assortment of tools and has done something like that before. Worst case scenario, you get the tank out but cant get it back in or you get it back in and it still doesn't start. You then tow it to a dealer who will now charge you even more to redo what you just did.How difficult is it to change a fuel pump in a 2002 Chevy Cavalier? it it's still able to pump, the easiest way is to just feed your fuel line into a gas can and pump the gas out that way.

unless you can access the tank/pump from inside the car, you'll have to drop the fuel tank and replace it that way.

300$ actaully sounds low for the part. maybe the dealers hiding some inflation on the part in there. i'd call around, or do the work myself. 550 to change a fuel pump you can do better
