good luckHow hard is it to change a fuel pump in a 99 malibu?its mostly likely in the tank most newer cars have it in the tank if its in the tank it will be a pain unless you know what you are doingHow hard is it to change a fuel pump in a 99 malibu?Change the fuel filter first.How hard is it to change a fuel pump in a 99 malibu?most generally the fuel pumps are in the gas tank and yes you have to drop the gas tank to get to it...once the tank is dropped it's usually not that hard to get to and change...just be very careful of the fuel lines and electrical plug-ins before you drop the tank completely and it really helps if you have an empty tank of gas..most electric fuel pumps are held in by a lock ring..you can carefully tap that until it unlocks and lift it right out of the gas tank. make sure you use the new strainer that comes with the pump, if you don't use the strainer that comes with the new fuel pump it can void the warranty
