GM used a very pricey High Pressure pump that is put inside the Fuel tank. Going price on one of these is 5-700 bucks. It is the same with ALL of the GM trucks of this era. Your mechanic has to drop the fuel tank to change this... which takes time... and the pump alone is over 350 bucks at the Dealer. If money is really tight... U could get a used pump from a Salvage yard and have that installed. However, if it dies you will be right back where you are now! It stinks, but this is going rate for this job...
